…so a few things have changed

Shaqinah & Sam Eder 2016

For one, I am now a *deep breath* married woman! A month ago, I married the love of my life… and I don’t think I could be any happier. We had a traditional intimate affair with our closest relatives and friends and a fab afterparty (where my brother broke out some serious dance moves — no, I literally mean serious dance moves, like spinning-on-the-floor-for-five-whole-minutes type of serious: needless to say, it was traumatising). For the non-wedding wedding itself, I opted for a custom silk crepe gown and (unsurprisingly), I knew right from the get-go that I wanted to splurge on shoes (because, priorities)… and so I did on a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti’s *swoon*.

Next change… we’ve since moved into our new (well, not so new now) apartment. We toyed with the idea of buying, but for what we would pay in Singapore we could have gotten a freakin’ mansion in NZ. You see, Singapore is filled with flash condominium buildings that house the tiniest (and ridiculously expensive) apartments, so apartment-hunting was quite the bummer. However, we lucked out when a slightly off-beat apartment came up for rent at just the right price! It’s an old apartment in a conservation building which means it’s supercool and all, but the layout’s a little funny so I’m struggling with ideas on how to decorate this place. I’ll be sharing more on that in posts to come. :-) Sam and I are in loooove with the place, though!

Lastly, I’m thinking I want to take this blog into a more personal direction. You know, just casually sharing a few of my favourite things and sharing a little more about the things I get up to. So expect more rambling posts… Currently, I’m majorly obsessed with putting together a new skincare regime. Like so majorly obsessed I’m scouring Caroline Hiron’s blog archives for tips and product recommendations… oh, and the constant youtubing (for every hundred crap beauty youtuber (telltale signs? “my code is in the box below” and saying “i’m obsessed” with a product they’ve used once etc etc); there is one incredibly honest and reliable beauty youtuber)!! And I’m learning so much… My current skincare routine? Expensive and not nearly good enough! The HORROR! I’ll share more in my next post.

Till then, xo

Hello June

Is it just me or is 2015 going by crazy fast? You guys, we’ve already blazed through half the year and there’s just 6 months left to make 2015 count! Can someone say scary?  It’s been a little more than hectic so far and I’m looking to dial it back a little and find my footing. I’m finally settling into my new environment and I couldn’t be happier that things are (more or less) falling into place.

This month, the focus is on getting back into the groove of things and introducing a bit of structure back into my life.

  1. (Re)Introduce a fitness routine. Groan. There’s something about fall+winter that makes me just want to curl up in bed and hibernate… with blocks of Cadbury Black Forest chocolates, natch. I’m looking to get back into a bit of a fitness routine by heading to the gym (if I could tear myself away from the electric blanket, that is) and doing an easy yoga/Pilates exercise at home. Wish me luck.
  2. Implement work hours (and sticking to it!). Working from home is proving to be quite a challenge for me. Mainly because I get distracted and lose track of time pretty easy. It hasn’t yet affected my work (thank god!) but it’s definitely an aspect that needs addressing as my freelance work piles on. Implementing work hours is bound to increase productivity and I’ll know when I’m dwelling on too much time perfecting a project! I’m hoping this will help me strike a balance between working on FBL Society (I’m doing time-consuming (re)design work now that I’ve parted ways with the developer and designer I hired, sigh) and my freelance work.
  3. Curate a capsule wardrobe. I’m a little late to the capsule party but I’m absolutely sold on this concept! I’ve been doing a little bit of research and adapting it to suit my needs and budget. But I definitely think it’s a perfect way for me to build up my wardrobe again especially after my recent wardrobe clean-out. I’m just in the planning stages, and I already have a love-hate relationship with the structure it brings into my shopping habits. I’ll share more over the next few posts, so keep an eye out for that!

I hope your June is off to a fab start, it’s getting colder, a little too rapidly, here and I’ve got the heater on blast! Xo

p.s: I was supposed to start going to the gym today… Instead, I had McDonald’s whilst watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Ha.
